Political strategist, activist Prashant Kishor launches a sharp attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, predicting Bihar Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] will not win even a single seat in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Jan Suraaj Party is spearheaded by Kishor who said Nitish Kumar is ‘physically tired and mentally retired’, which translates to the veteran leader having lost the capability to rule the state efficiently.
The election is a high-stakes exercise for Bihar, and his remarks come ahead of this. Jan Suraaj Party of Kishor is also expected to contest for the first time, keen to make a big dent in the state’s political landscape. Placing their hopes on an April rally that he said would ‘break records of turnout’, he announced his plans.
Prashant Kishor criticised Nitish Kumar’s political shuffling to reporters in Patna, saying that despite frequent changes, the chief minister has managed to hold on to power.
“This has allowed Nitish Kumar to keep the power with him every time he has shifted alliances. Contrary to all other examples, even if JD(U) wins only some seats, if that is what JD(U) suits his purpose at that time, Kishor thinks he can work in JD(U) to get a position of chief minister,” Kishor said.
In the last decade, Nitish Kumar has changed alliances at least once. In 2013, he left the BJP, in 2015 joined Mahagathbandhan led by RJD and in 2017 he came back to NDA. In 2022 he joined the Mahagathbandhan for 2nd time, but joined NDA again with BJP in 2024.
The Bihar voters must put an end to this cycle of political uncertainty by ensuring the total defeat of JD(U) and enabling the party to come in power, was the appeal made by Kishor.
He asserted that to break this cycle and to prevent JD(U) from floating with the lotus (BJP) or burning bright with the lantern (RJD), people have to, in fact, vote in such a way that JD(U) does not win even a single seat.
