At the seventh meeting of the 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, India delivered a sharp rebuke to Pakistan, characterizing it as a “failed state” reliant on international aid. The Indian representative, Kshitij Tyagi, from India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, accused Pakistan of consistently misusing international platforms to propagate anti-India rhetoric.
India’s strong response was triggered by allegations from Pakistan’s law minister concerning human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Tyagi countered these claims by accusing Pakistan of disseminating falsehoods dictated by its “military terrorist complex.” He further asserted that Pakistan was undermining the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by exploiting it as a mouthpiece.

The Indian representative, Kshitij Tyagi, from India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, accused Pakistan of consistently misusing international platforms to propagate anti-India rhetoric.
Tyagi’s comments followed India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, who on February 19 reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India, while strongly condemning Pakistan’s misinformation campaigns.

Tyagi countered these claims by accusing Pakistan of disseminating falsehoods dictated by its “military terrorist complex.” He further asserted that Pakistan was undermining the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by exploiting it as a mouthpiece.
Key points of India’s statement included:
- “Failed state” designation: India emphasized Pakistan’s dependence on international aid and its internal instability.
- Rejection of Pakistani claims: India reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India, highlighting the region’s progress.
- Accusations of hypocrisy: India condemned Pakistan’s record of human rights abuses, persecution of minorities, and support for UN-sanctioned terrorists.
- Call for internal focus: India urged Pakistan to address its own domestic issues rather than fixating on India.
India’s stance underscored its firm opposition to Pakistan’s attempts to raise the Kashmir issue on international forums. The Indian envoy pointed to the increased political, social, and economic progress that has been made in the Jammu and Kashmir region. It was also stated that Pakistan should focus on providing actual governance and justice to its own people.
