The long-awaited Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, which audited in detail the new liquor policy for 2021-22, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party and its senior leaders of a scam, was tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday. The ED and the CBI are investigating the alleged scam, and several prominent leaders, including former chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, are out on bail and in jail.
The CAG report is of 166 pages and page number 77 contains details of the new liquor policy. The report, presented on the floor of the House by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of the BJP government, states that during this policy, the government treasury has suffered a loss of Rs 2000.68 crore due to various reasons. The audit report states that many changes were made in the policy without the approval of the cabinet and the advice of the LG, which affected the revenue.
An expert committee was formed to improve the liquor business in Delhi, headed by the Excise Commissioner. After receiving the report of this committee, the Council of Ministers decided to form a Group of Ministers (GOM), which was headed by Deputy CM and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia. This group also included the Urban Development Minister (Satyendra Jain) and the Revenue and Transport Minister (Kailash Gehlot).
The GoM was asked to examine the existing system, the report of the expert committee and the comments of the stakeholders. The cabinet of Sisodia, Satyendra Jain and Kailash Gehlot made seven important changes in the recommendations of the expert committee. The CAG also said that no record has been found about the basis on which these changes were made. In this regard, the ED has also questioned Kailash Gehlot, who has now joined the BJP.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta performed Rudrabhishek at Gauri Shankar Temple in Chandni Chowk and prayed for the well-being of Delhiites. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal was also with her. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta greeted the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. She prayed that the blessings of Lord Bholenath and Mother Gauri remain on everyone and the country and the capital move forward.
