Mahashivratri, a big and holy festival of Hindus, will be celebrated on Wednesday, 26 February. Therefore, banks would continue to be closed in the following states: Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.

All government and private schools, as well as colleges, will be closed on February 26, along with banks.

On the day of Mahashivratri, devotees offer the Shivling with milk and flowers. Since planetary places provide a strong natural surge of energy in the human system, people remain up on the darkest night of the year.

It is said to have both physical and spiritual advantages to remain awake and sit upright during the night. On February 27, the Nishita Kaal Puja, also known as the midnight worship, is planned from 12:09 to 12:59 a.m.

What banking services will be available on bank holidays?

Bank branches will remain closed for all the above dates, but customers can still use digital or net banking services throughout the year unless otherwise advised by the bank (usually for maintenance work).

All bank websites, banking apps, UPI, and ATM services will remain active throughout the year. You can also start recurring deposits or fixed deposits digitally on such days.
