Indore, India’s cleanest city remains at the forefront in the quest for a clean and sustainable urban future. The dedicated efforts of the city itself have made the drains so much that they are used as a venue for many public events. The unique idea of holding a yoga session in a dry and clean drain was entertained by mayors of the state, including Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav.
A large-scale yoga session was organized on Monday at Shri Ram Temple Ramghat, coming under the Panchkuiya police station area of Indore. This was an extremely unique event held in a clean and dry drain, a great testament to the city’s progress in waste management and cleanliness. A large number of yoga enthusiasts and several dignitaries, including Singrauli Mayor Rani Agarwal, spiritual leader Sant Shri Ramgopal Maharaj, MIC member Ashwini Shukla, local councillor Sandhya Yadav, councillor Bharat Raghuvanshi, Mayor’s representative Shailu Dev were present, to take part in this extraordinary initiative.
Meanwhile, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav shared glimpses of the event and expressed his admiration for the Indore Municipal Corporation’s sustained work on maintaining cleanliness. Additionally, he mentioned how the city employed an approach that was innovative and has resulted in clean drains without having to generate any pollution or turning the drains unusable for social and wellness activities.
The commitment to Indore’s transformation to reality is evident through this initiative. It is an inspiration for other cities to show that with enough effort even the spaces that are not seen as usable can be repurposed to the benefit of the community. This yoga session in a once-polluted drain is a result of Indore’s dream to have a neat and healthy urban environment.
