Sources reveal that the outbreak of jaundice has increased in the area due to contaminated water. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to the presence of so many patients. The health department has also lost its sleep.
Jaundice is spreading rapidly in Dhanpuri, a coalfield town under Dhanpuri Municipality in Shahdol district. More than 50 jaundice patients were found within a week. Due to the sudden influx of jaundice patients, the hospital is crowded with patients. There is a shortage of space in the hospital. Due to the influx of patients beyond capacity, people are getting treatment in private hospitals. Due to the absence of medicines for a life-threatening disease like jaundice in the hospital, the patients are forced to buy medicines worth a thousand rupees from outside every day.
