Prime Minister Narendra Modi is starting a national visit to France and the U.S. with a key emphasis on key areas of focus, such as artificial intelligence, technology, defence, and energy cooperation. The visit will further reinforce India’s strategic partnerships with the two countries in areas of common interests and cooperation.

On Tuesday, Modi’s first stop will be France, where he will co-chair the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. Its leaders, including top technology CEOs, seek to focus on advancing an inclusive, secure, responsible approach to AI innovation during the summit. In his departure speech, PM Modi stressed the utility of AI for building an innovative sector for the good of the public, thereby stressing that the development of its AI must be collaborative and trustworthy.

A major highlight of the summit is the launch of an AI Foundation, a community effort that will ensure the ethical development of AI. Other areas of discussion will include regulatory frameworks and partnerhip to maximize the AI potential while addressing its security concerns.

Modi and Macron will then head to Marseille on 12 February to discuss bilateral matters and inaugurate a new Indian consulate. These talks will review the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap, which outlines long-term strategic cooperation between India and France.

Then, Modi will make his way to Washington, where he will meet US President Donald Trump for the first time after assuming office for the second time. Among the issues to be discussed are the areas of defense cooperation, trade agreements, clean energy partnerships and other emerging technologies.

It is this visit that it is a big step in reaffirming India’s global partnerships with AI-driven innovation, economic growth and geopolitical cooperation.
