On Sunday, AAP leader Atishi resigned as Delhi’s chief minister, clearing the way for the BJP to establish a new government amid its 27-year comeback to power in the capital. The party has not yet declared who will be its chief minister. Later this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to return from his official visit to the United States, after which the oath-taking ceremony would be held, according to a BJP leader. He is expected to be back on February 14 or 15.
A day after BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the victorious candidates held thanksgiving rallies in their respective constituencies on Sunday. The candidates celebrated their success by distributing sweets, cutting cakes, and expressing gratitude to the voters for their support.
With a strong mandate, the BJP regained control of Delhi on Saturday, taking 48 of the 70 assembly seats. In the February 5 elections, Congress lost yet again, failing to win a single seat, while the AAP won 22 seats. The Congress has failed in the Delhi assembly elections for the third time in a row.

According to electoral rights body ADR, 31 of the 70 elected candidates in the eighth Delhi Assembly elections have declared criminal cases against themselves. This number is less than the 43 MLAs in the previous assembly who had declared similar cases.

. Kailash Gehlot, the BJP’s winning candidate from the Bijwasan seat, claimed that Delhi residents were happy with the party’s victory. He said that the public has responded appropriately to the AAP’s fake pledges.
