The government leader posted on X Twitter further endorsed Assam’s role in fighting illegal poppy production. Through his social media post he expressed his sincere appreciation of Assam’s decisive leadership under the direction of Honorable Chief Minister Shri @himantabiswa ji for combating poppy cultivation challenges.

The Fight Against Drugs demands Northeast states to unite under one mission to establish a brighter future where each youth of the region can thrive free from drug threats according to Singh.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the public how authorities in Goalpara district cleared 170 bighas (over 56 acres) of unlawful poppy plantations in the month of January 2024. The government assessed the destroyed cultivation area at a value exceeding ₹27 crore.

The government officials from both Manipur and Assam have pledged to remove all drug-related offenses by focusing their efforts on ending poppy cultivation and drug distribution in their shared area.
