A Delhi High Court petition has been filed against Delhi government Minister and AAP leader Mukesh Ahlawat to file a case against him for deliberately concealing critical facts while contesting many elections. Satish Chauhan, through Advocate Deepak Chauhan, however, pleads that Ahlawat suppressed key facts and misled election authorities in order to dent the sanctity of the electoral process, moving ahead with the plea.

The petition has stated that Mukesh Ahlawat fought the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections in the year 2008 and filed a sworn affidavit with the Election Commission saying that no criminal cases or FIRs were against him. Later on, it was found out that he had intentionally hidden several FIRs filed against him. The plea claims this act is deception and an attempt to hoodwink the Election Commission as well as the voters.

In addition to concealment of criminal record, Ahlawat is even charged with concealing financial assets, sources of income and the number of children he had fathered, says the petitioner. The petition says these omissions are intentional in order to bypass legally mandated disclosure of key details that candidates are required to include in their affidavits.

The plea further says that Ahlawat followed the same pattern of non-disclosure of information in the 2013 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. On both occasions, he allegedly did not report details of pending and settled criminal cases, family information and assets.

The petitioner also submits that Mukesh Ahlawat, who currently has a pension and other benefits as a Minister, has no right to these privileges because of the alleged misconduct. The petition is to immediately revoke these entitlements.
