Alert security forces killed two heavily armed terrorists who were trying to infiltrate along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said Friday.
In the incident in the Khari Karmara area of Poonch Thursday night troops found out suspicious movement close to the LoC. Meanwhile, officials say the infiltrators tried to sneak into Indian territory in the darkness but were quickly fired upon by alert soldiers.
Last night, terrorist movement was detected in the Poonch sector. In response, the troops immediately responded in an intense firefight, the Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps posted on X.
Both terrorists were eliminated during the gun battle that took place throughout the night. Officials also added that a massive search operation was conducted in the area to check for no other threat.
The slain terrorists were well armed and possibly planning a big attack; security forces recovered a cache of guns, ammunition, and other war-like stores. Cops were still combing the area Friday morning for further infiltration attempts, but the search operation was still ongoing.
The incident shows that the LoC is more secure than it used to be, as Pakistan-supported terrorist groups are trying to infiltrate despite stringent measures against them. The Army and other security agencies remain on high alert to keep incursions across the border from happening.
Such infiltration attempts threaten national security, and officials repeated that India’s armed forces are fully capable of beating any attempts to violate national security. Again, Indian forces’ vigilance and swift action in Poonch demonstrated a successful operation.
