On Sunday, January 26, India will commemorate the 76th Republic Day, which marks the establishment of the Indian Constitution in 1950.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at the renowned Republic Day parade on Sunday on New Delhi’s Kartavya Path. “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” this year’s Republic Day celebration theme, highlights India’s rich cultural heritage and continuous growth and development.
Republic Day Parade timings and venue
According to a news agency, gates will open at 7 am and close at 9 am on Sunday, with the Republic Day Parade starting at 10:30 am.
To supervise the ceremonial march past, Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, will arrive at Kartavya Path. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial as a sign of respect before the parade starts.
President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, who is this year’s main guest, will also head an Indonesian delegation and participate in the parade.
Republic Day Parade Route
Before concluding at the Red Fort, the Republic Day Parade will begin at Rashtrapati Bhavan and pass through Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar (BSZ) Marg, and Netaji Subhash Marg.

Event tickets start at ₹100 for reserved seats and ₹20 for unreserved seats. Reservations are accepted at five specific counters in Delhi from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. till January 25. Additionally, reservations may be made online via the Aamantran website and mobile app. Attendees are required to carry a valid photo ID and their ticket for entry.
Transportation
On January 26, all ticket holders will receive free rides on the Delhi Metro. Additionally, there will be special shuttle services from the metro to the parade venue. The C-Hexagon-India Gate route would be closed from 9:15 am till the marchers reach Tilak Marg, according to traffic advice sent by the Delhi police.
When is the Beating Retreat ceremony?
On the evening of January 29, the President of India will preside over the Beating Retreat ceremony, which will mark the end of the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi’s Vijay Chowk.
The ceremony’s tickets, which cost ₹100, will be sold via the Aamantran website and mobile application. In Delhi, tickets will also be sold at physical counters. Three days after January 26, India’s Republic Day celebrations come to a conclusion with the Beating Retreat.
During Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s royal visit to India in the 1950s, the beating retreat ceremony was first performed. Since then, the celebration honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces has been conducted every year.
