Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi set this plan to hold the 2036 Olympics in Ahmedabad. This is the first statement released by the government on the host city of the reputable event. The announcement was made when key development structures in Vadnagar in Mehsana district were inaugurated.

“Today, we are officially opening a sports facility. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has dreamt of organizing the Olympic Games in 2036 in Ahmedabad. This will be in addition to the time the youth from Vadnagar will also come in and compete as well as excel at the international level,” concluded Shah.

India made the first move towards this ideal on October 1 by filing a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Future Host Commission. This kind of letter indicates the readiness of the country to begin a dialogue with the IOC in concern with the ability of the country to host the games. They informed us about this decision indirectly, but what is important to know is that Ahmedabad is going to be the host city as far as future Olympics are concerned.

Ahmedabad is believed to be a likely candidate for the event, with the government putting a lot of pressure on creating top-tier sports facilities in the city. In this regard, the intended new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad, which has all modern facilities, will have a significant role.

This announcement speaks volumes for India’s rise on the world WF stage and speaks about the government’s efforts in cultivating sports culture and facilities. The Olympics also have an added advantage on the host nation as well as motivating upcoming athletes in India. The vision seems to fit well with Modi’s overall master plan of making India a powerhouse in international sports and ensuring that the structures put in place bear the legacy of today for generations to come.
