Four passengers died and 15 others were injured in a collision between a bus and a dumper truck in this district, a police officer said on Friday. He stated that the tragedy happened in Gajulapalli village in the Chittoor district on Thursday at about 11:15 p.m.
“Four passengers died on the spot, and 15 others sustained injuries. Of them, four are seriously injured and 11 persons sustained simple injuries,” Chittoor sub-divisional police officer T. Sainath told the media. The Madurai-bound bus was from Tirupati with 26 passengers, he added. According to the officials, the truck hit the bus on its side.
According to Sainath, injured travelers were sent to SVIMS, CMC Vellore, and other nearby hospitals. Police filed a complaint in accordance with BNS section 106. The truck driver is absconding, police said.
Police are working to inform the impacted family; however, they have not yet disclosed the deceased’s identity. To assess the situation, Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar paid a visit to the government hospital. He asked the medical personnel to provide the best possible care for the victims.
