Delhi riots accused Tahir Hussain submits nomination papers for upcoming Assembly polls from Mustafabad constituency on Thursday. After that, he had gone back to Tihar Jail, according to officials.
Hussain, who was a councillor of the AAP, is fighting the election on AIMIM ticket which is led by Asaduddin Owaisi. He will contest the February 5 assembly elections from Mustafabad, a vital constituency of northeast Delhi, on the party ticket.
As mentioned by sources, Hussain was previously produced inside Tihar Jail and set under exceptional safety measures by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. “He left the jail around 9:15 AM and completed the nomination process before returning to custody at 2:16 PM, a source disclosed.
Delhi State AIMIM president Shoaib Jamai explained that the party was in those polls for a strategy not for winning but gaining votes. “We won’t fight all seats, but where we do, be assured that ‘nothing will be done for half-way’. The candidates we are contesting for polls are good performers and potential ones, just like Tahir Hussain of Mustafabad and Shafa-ur-Rehman of Okhla. Jamai said that both are currently in prison in connection with the CAA-NRC protests.”
The AIMIM has been bouncing more of its plans and targets, and more candidates are expected to be declared during the course of the day as part of their electoral master plan in Delhi. With Hussain and Rehman in the fray, the party wants to stand up for the marginalized sections of society tormented by the CAA and NRC.
Now, this decision of AIMIM indicates its plan to start its domination on the Delhi political map by filing in the assembly constituencies that have sizeable minority votes. Thus, this poll campaign strategy shows that AIMIM is seriously preparing for the upcoming assembly elections.
