The employees of Madhya Pradesh may see massive transfers soon enough since the government starts looking for a new Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for the Home Department. The current Home ACS, IAS officer S.N. Mishra of the 1990 batch is retiring on January 30, signifying his term’s end. This is in preparation for other arrangements aimed at supporting the finalization of his successor.
Indications have, however, emerged indicating that there may be a massive reshuffle of staff this week, and the new Home ACS is expected to be on the list. The Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, also plans for an official visit to Japan soon, and he might conclude the decision on this during his travelling time. The official orders on the appointment of new Home ACS could be signed by January 30.
This reshuffle will also assume the state administration at different levels. Transfers are happening from the state secretariat to posts at the district level. Significantly, much attention is paid to those officers who have been transferred from Additional Secretary to Secretary and from Deputy Secretary to Additional Secretary but continue to work in districts.
In the recent past, 14 district collectors were given postings at the additional secretary level, thus making them suitable for major administrative posts. The next reshuffle should give a broader picture of who will be in charge of Home ACS – a very critical post.
The decision is of certain importance because the Home ACS is considered a very important aspect of law enforcement in the state. While the process is in progress, every political and administrative circle is full of talks about possible nominees for this powerful post. It will be interesting to see who will be chosen to head this important department during the coming week.
