Bhopal: In a rather unfortunate incident, six boxes of liquor were cut on a CRPF truck that was on its way from Bilaspur’s Bharni Group Center to Sukma Battalion. Incredibly, the truck was loaded with CRPF personnel, but no one realized they had been robbed until much later. It is believed that the incident took place on the night of December 24-25 when the truck stopped near the Sankara Bridge on the way.
It was discovered that when the truck carrying the stolen goods continued its trip, other drivers realized that the ropes that were used to tie the luggage were loose. An FIR was filed after 15 days at Dharsiwa Police Station by CRPF constable Shashi Bhushan Kumar of the 227 Battalion Police.
As stated in the report, the constable was ordered by the battalion commandant to purchase liquor for the CRPF Battalion. On December 24, he crossed to the Bharni Group Center Bilaspur to load thirteen brands of liquor totaling 564 boxes on a truck with number plate CG10 BN 2119. Accompanied by the driver, K. Rajendra Kumar, the truck left for Sukma around 9:45 PM.
The journey was uneventful until 12:30 AM, when the truck halted at a dhaba in Nandghat for dinner. Later, around 2:30 AM, the driver of the Ford Softruck felt so sleepy and decided to park it on the Sankara Bridge in order to rest. They moved on at 5 AM. It would have been only a few kms ahead that another driver warned them that the ropes had come loose on the parcels.
They were able to confirm that six boxes of liquor were stolen during a check of the shelves. The FIR was filed with much delay, and more shocking is the fact that CRPF personnel were there when the theft took place. The police are tracking the incident in order to track the perpetrators and get back the stolen items.
