Bhopal: A new system of attendance for those employees who work in the Secretariat of Madhya Pradesh has appeared. The new biometric attendance system for officers and employees is being introduced soon. Following the order passed by the General Administration Department (GAD), all employees must generate Aadhaar-based facial attendance IDs by January 24, 2025. Of these, the above rule will be applicable to approximately 1700 employees in the Secretariat. The GAD has already released the directives needed to enable this shift.
For effective implementation of the new system, a project team for E-Machine has been constituted. There are three nodal officers for the project and each department has been put under pressure to register all its employees under the new system. Indeed, once it has been fully deployed in the Secretariat, this state-of-the-art attendance tool will be extended to other government ministries and departments in the state.
The new modalities will include one needing the employee to have his or her face and retina scanned before gaining entry into the Secretariat compound and then repeating the process before being allowed to leave. This is an unprecedented technology that uses AI to recognize people and works well even with customer transformation over time like the aging process.
It should be noted that the integration of this biometric system will boost the efficiency, transparency, and accurateness that are inevitable in attendance management. Thus, by purging the option of proxy attendance or other sorts of inaccuracies, it is expected to enhance the general discipline and responsibility of government employees.
In addition to making attendance tracking a real-time activity, this system has the added benefit of reducing paperwork so that officials can more easily keep tabs on how promptly employees are arriving at work. Also, the initiative serves as an illustration of the willingness of the state government to embrace technological advances aimed at transforming public administration as a reference area to other states.
