It was very recently that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were noticed visiting the highly revered saint Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan Dham along with their twins Vamika and Akaay. A video showing the trip has spread on social channels; it shows how dedicated this family is to the guru. As recognized devotees of Premanand Maharaj, the couple was seen speaking with the aforementioned master and seeking his blessings.
In the video, Virat and Anushka are seen bowing to Premanand Maharaj, touching his feet as a mark of respect and asking for his blessings. Note that this is the second time the couple has come to the guru; Ulsohn and Landy first met the guru in January 2023. Anushka asked, and interjecting her conversation, she said, “Last time we came here, I had some doubts. I wondered if I would ask something, but unfortunately, everybody else has asked similar questions. I felt like I was having an audible conversation with you. The next day, I thought of watching Ekantik Vartalap {Premanand’s webcasts}, and for a change, others were asking questions that were bothering me.
While Anushka was bowing and having a quiet conversation with the spiritual master, Virat was seen feeding and playing with elder baby Vamika, who was in his mother’s hand, and Anushka, who was carrying younger child Akaay. Finally in her plea, the actress said, “I would like to ask you to give us prem-bhakti (devotional love).”
Premanand Maharaj gave a heartfelt response to the couple, proving how much they had gotten married to each other. “Both of you are very brave. This is difficult in the world, yet turning to bhakti to get all that without achieving it; is very rare. There is nothing I can do now to change the fact that you are slowly poisoning yourself through your devotion. I think you will get the answers that you are searching for, he said.
After a difficult Australian tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli found refuge in a trip to Vrindavan temple. He now has his sights set on the future one-day leagues, the Cricket World Cups, and the ICC Champions Trophy.
