Continuous fast-unto-death protest by poll strategist Prashant Kishor has raised a number of accusations of irregularities in the BPSC examinations; Jan Suraaj Party has approached the Patna High Court seeking the cancellation of competitive tests. The case was lodged by the party’s lawyer, who tendered the petition to the court on Friday and fixed it for Tuesday, January 15.

The petition contains several unfair practices that the party itself identified during the Combined Competitive Exams held on December 13, said Advocate Pranav Kumar, identifying himself for the party. As per Kumar, this matter was taken up before the single bench of Justice Arvind Singh Chandel, and the justice fixed it for hearing on the aforementioned date.

The petition said there were malpractices during the exams, pointing out somewhere the candidates were allowed to take mobile phones to examination centres that lacked adequate jamming systems. It was also revealed that in some centres, students sat in groups and were solving the question papers together. Many students did not take their exams, which were held at Bapu Pariksha Parisar, and accused authorities of leaking the questions.

The Jan Suraaj Party, which is headed by Prashant Kishor, has demanded the duplication of the issue. They are calling for the scrapping of the entire examination and blacklisting of any official that may be involved in these alleged malpractices. Around five lakhs of students in more than 900 centres of the state of Bihar for the graduate level final exam have been surrounded by controversy due to mismanagement and other unfair acts, several other instances of which were criticized.
