The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that RWAs in Delhi will get financial assistance to employ private security personnel if AAP is voted back to power in the upcoming assembly polls. This was indicated by the party leader, Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday as the assembly polls draw near, with the poll set for February 5 and the results for February 8.
In power for the second consecutive term as the Chief Minister, Kejriwal plans to introduce numerous new schemes and grants to support AAP’s major welfare platform. In addition to other traditional welfare policies of the AAP like the transformation of the government schools, setting up of mohalla clinics, free electricity, free transport for women, and subsidies for senior citizens to undertake the pilgrimage, AAP has planned for more. These are a ₹2,100 monthly honorarium for women, free treatment facilities for the old age populace, and ₹10 lakh insurance for auto drivers.
The Delhi assembly will be a triangular battle between AAP, BJP, and the incumbent Congress party in Delhi. Both opposition parties want to unseat AAP out of power in the state. Nonetheless, the governing party believes that their social and administrative policies will make them return to power.
The Election Commission has declared that all nominations for the 70 aggregated assembly places must be received by the 17th of January, while scrutiny will commence on the 18th of the same month. Up to January 20, the nominees can withdraw their candidature.
While the political upmanship intensified, Kejriwal successfully placed AAP as a party that works for the people, as AAP claims to have an unblemished record of implementing pro-people policies. To prevent any anti-incumbency feeling, the party has brought out new schemes and grants to ensure that Delhi remains with it. These next elections will be the defining point for the future of the state in terms of politics.
