New Delhi: The severe cold in Delhi has now started tormenting people. The day started with drizzle in the National Capital Region today. IMD issued a rain warning for the next 5 days and said that the next few days may prove to be very difficult for Delhiites. Light rain is expected in Delhi on Monday, which will affect life. The minimum temperature is expected to be 8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s weather is changing due to the activation of Western Disturbance, so the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 24 and 25 December. Dense fog is expected in the morning on both days, with the maximum temperature expected to be 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum 7 degrees Celsius.

Pollution is severe in six areas of Delhi: On Sunday, Delhi’s AQI was 409, in which pollution was very severe in six areas.

Delhi, NCR’s neighbouring cities Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad also received light rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted mist and light fog at most places and moderate fog at some places in the morning on Monday.

The weather department has predicted that the sky will be partly cloudy in the morning and there will be light to very light rain. There will be mist and light fog in the evening and night.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPPCB) said that Delhi’s air quality deteriorated further on Sunday. The 24-hour AQI reached 409, which falls in the “severe” category.

PM 2.5 levels in the capital reached dangerous levels on Sunday and 37 of the 39 monitoring stations reported air quality as “severe”. Delhi is still implementing the fourth phase of the “Graded Response Action Plan” (GRAP), which includes stringent anti-pollution measures.

In some areas, the AQI level was recorded as high as 474. On Saturday, the AQI level was recorded at 370, which was “very poor”. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor” and 401 and 500 “severe”.
