New Delhi: According to the Delhi Police, emergency response teams were sent when a private school in Dwarka, Delhi, received a bomb threat email. As a precaution, the school has shifted its classes online.

This is the sixth time in the past eleven days that the national capital’s schools have received such threats. A few Delhi schools received bomb threats earlier on December 17. Before that, on Monday, December 16, threat emails were sent to about 20 schools, including DPS RK Puram. About 30 schools received bomb threats via email on December 13, which prompted a multi-agency investigation of their premises. On December 14, eight schools, including the same DPS RK Puram, received a similar email in which the sender threatened to carry out an explosion using “bomb vests.”

A bomb threat email was sent to at least 40 Delhi schools on December 9. It stated that if a $30,000 ransom is not paid, the bombs, which were hidden in various locations, would be detonated. The email claimed that the “small and hidden” bombs have been planted inside the school buildings. “It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate.”

Arvind Kejriwal writes to Amit Shah on bomb threat news

In his letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, he wrote, “Airports and schools are receiving bomb threats, and drug-related crimes have increased by 350 percent, worrying people across the city for their security.”

He further noted that as the Delhi Police and law and order are managed by the Central Government, “so proper action and cooperation from your side is very much needed in this serious matter.” Prior to the letter, Kejriwal criticized Shah, claiming that the national capital’s law and order situation was beyond the capabilities of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
