The officials informed on Monday that two FIRs had been registered in relation to the ruckus witnessed at the Bapu Exam Centre in Patna, Bihar, on December 13. The police administration has made a specialized team to search for all the culprits who were involved in the incident. People who invaded and ransacked the Bapu Pariksha Parisar in an attempt to prevent candidates from taking the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam, as seen in video clips making the rounds on social media.
The bid was thwarted, informed Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh while explaining that the exam was not called off. The DM further noted that swift action was alternatively done in what resulted in the registration of two FIRs.
According to the protesting candidates, they were subjected to some irregularities on the very day of the examination. Issues ranged from question paper leakages, delays in delivery, and damaged scripts. Certain candidates observed that they only got the question papers an hour or so later, and this raised eyebrows of the problem. But, BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai rejected all these allegations. Speaking to the media, he said that no complaints were received officially regarding other irregularities, and they had to reiterate that everyone in Bihar was happy with how the exam was conducted.
“In one of the centres in Patna, some students made a ruckus but the commission swiftly responded by transferring two officers to manage the situation,” Parmar said in his press briefing.
In addition to that, there was heated controversy when the Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh was caught on video physically assaulting a BPSC aspirant during the protest. The video, which has since gone viral on social media, is footage of the DM approaching a protester, pointing at him to get out, and then slapping him as police officers watch. This was also seen in that Singh was also seen provoking other protesters, following what some considered unbefitting conduct while addressing fellow demonstrators during the confrontation.
