Taking out a protest on Thursday in the Parliament, Congress MPs and opposition leaders wore black jackets having the message, ‘Modi-Adani Ek Hain’. However, this protest led by the LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi & his sister Priyanka Gandhi, was held following the constant targeting of billionaire businessman Gautam Adani. The opposition has been demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee or JPC into the allegations against Adani, who has been named by the US prosecutors for bribery and fraud along with the nephew.

Al grinding their gears in black half-jackets with the slogan on the back, the dissenting MPs of Congress, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK, and the Left parties protested in the Parliament complex. When Rahul Gandhi joined the protest, he made a direct threat, “Modi Ji cannot order Adani Ji to be investigated because if Modi Ji does, then Modi Ji is investigating himself. Modi aur Adani ek hain. Do nahi hain, ek hain.”

This protest was not the first of its kind. On Wednesday, chiefs of several parties within the INDIA alliance had sit-ins in the Parliament premises seeking a consolidation of a joint parliamentary committe to probe into the Adani issue. They chanted slogans in favour of their demand and held flex banners which said ‘Modi-Adani are one’ at Makar Dwar in Parliament. But, the TMC or Trinamool Congress decided not to join the protest being staged by some of its workers.

Union Youth Congress protesters led by Rahul Gandhi were not around during the morning protest as he was in Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, which became a recent incident of violence. Though he declined to make his presence at the protest, the members of the opposition could not be discouraged from demanding a probe into the alleged corruption and fraud involving Adani.
