Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Police issued an advisory ahead of Devendra Fadnavis’s swearing-in ceremony as Maharashtra CM and his deputies at 5:30 p.m.

“On 5/12/2024, a “Swearing In Ceremony” is organized inside Azad Maidan. A large number of people will be present for the said oath ceremony. To avoid traffic congestion during the event, the mentioned traffic changes are dt. 12 AM on 5/12/2024 till the event ends”, wrote Mumbai Traffic Police on X.

Devendra Fadnavis will take oath as the next Maharashtra CM at Mumbai’s iconic Azad Maidan alongside two deputies after the 54-year-old was elected leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) legislative party unit and staked claim to power, ending nearly two weeks of suspense over government formation.

In a more recent morning update, it also informed slow traffic on BKC, Airoli Bridge, Centaur Bridge and Gandhi Market. Updates were shared through a series of tweet. Traffic from CSMT Junction to Vasudev Balawant Phadake Chowk (Metro Junction) shall be prohibited. The optional route can be taken as LT Marg- Chakala Junction- Right turn – DN Road- CSMT Junction- towards the desired destination & vice versa.

The Mumbai Traffic Police announced a traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement and minimise public inconvenience. The order will be effective from 12pm on December 5 until the conclusion of the event.

As there are no parking facilities at Azad Maidan Ground, citizens are encouraged to use public transport, particularly trains and local services. The police also urged people to plan their travel accordingly.
