Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Tuesday claimed that the BJP-led central government has hatched “a big plot to foil every voter in Delhi and maliciously targeted voters linked with AAP.” She accused the BJP of using government instrumentalities to tilt the playing field against AAP in the wake of upcoming elections.
Atishi posted on X that the alleged conspiracy started on October 28 when 29 Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) were removed. It was soon reported that orders had been passed out of SDM offices to start dumping AAP voters off the electoral rolls.
These instructions came directly from the SDM offices where the AEROs and the BLOs were told to delete AAP voters lists,” Atishi wrote on X. She also accused the officials of being provided lists of AAP supporters and voters to remove from the voter register.
Atishi described this as an act of the BJP to destabilise democracy in Delhi. “The BJP is scared of losing and is now out to change the rules to ensure that what happens is not a democratic process,” she quoted. She also requested AERO-BLO officials to display no compromise about any pressure to perform a certain way. She urged them to reveal the perceived plot to bias the elections in order to prevent compromise of the procedure.
The accusations have taken political colours this time, with the AAP leader levelling such charges while the BJP has not reacted to the same. Atishi also appealed to the electorate and demanded that everyone in the country be protected in exercising their constitutional right to vote. The matter is likely to escalate further with AAP-led delhi government and BJP-led central government political bitterness.
