Five persons were injured while four others were killed on the spot as three houses were blown away due to a severe blast in the Morena district in Madhya Pradesh at midnight. The incident emerged in Rathore Colony, which falls under the Kotwali police station.
The police and municipal corporation teams quickly arrived at the site after being informed and began a rescue mission through the night. CSP Ravi Soner said: “We got the incident details around 12 am to 1 am. There were some irretrievable losses; however, the police administration and the municipal corporation team went to the scene to start the rescue.” Soner said that two corpses were found at first, and two more people were thought to be alive and buried under the rubble.
Five people who sustained severe injuries were rescued and are under hospitalization. That is why the rescue operations are focused on removing the debris as soon as possible, as the authorities stated. One of the dead women’s bodies was pulled out from the debris when the team from Morena Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh arrived.
The reason behind the blast has not been identified, and an ongoing probe is still being conducted. FSL teams are on the scene to identify the cause specifically. Superintendent Saurabh added that an LPG cylinder blast was not a possibility since none of those discovered at the scene were damaged.
Vasudev Rathore, whose house was blown up in the blast and whose 28-year-old daughter-in-law was killed, thought it might have been gunpowder that caused the explosion.
Sub-divisional Magistrate Shri Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha opined that the cause of the blast is still unknown. It is pertinent to note that to date. The disaster has sent the local community into shock as evacuations go on in the overcrowded Ratore Colony neighbourhood. The police are anticipated to give additional information after the rendezvous with the forensic experts.
