India has come back strongly against Australia in the ongoing Test match and shown the best bowling and batting performance. After being bundled out for a measly 150 in a mere two sessions on the first day of the match, it was India’s pace bowling, led by a relentless captain Jasprit Bumrah that unleashed a turnaround on the field. Bumrah’s fiery spell of 4 wickets giving away 17 runs helped along with Mohammed Siraj’s 2 wickets in 17 runs and Harshit Rana’s 1 wicket in 33 runs knocked over the Australians both in the powerplay and in the middle. At stumps on Day 1, Australia was struggling at 67/7, still 83 runs behind India.

Indian bowlers kept on putting pressure on the Australian batsman on the second day of the match. Harshit Rana took two more wickets, and Bumrah took one wicket to dismiss Australia at a meagre total of 104 runs. Even Mitchell Starc tried to stick in there and scored 26 off 112 balls, but it could not help his team’s cause. India got an important first innings lead of 46 and this led to their batters coming to the party.

The second innings of the Indian team was fully dominated by the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. These two seemed to take charge of manoeuvring, continually extending India’s advantage. On the second day, India reached 172 without any loss and took the overall lead to a titanic 218. Rahul played an impressive innings and was not out on 62 while Jaiswal was not out on 90 and had near a Test hundred.

India’s dominance in both playing fields could not have placed the team in a better position as they comfortably head into the final stages of the match. What makes a team powerful is a big lead and a batting line-up is on song which is the case here with the visitors. They will be all set on Jaiswal as he aims for another record and India for a dominant lead in the game.
