Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will open the hi-tech cow shelter in Bhopal today. The foundation laying ceremony for this ultra-modern building will be held in Barkhedi Dob. When it is fully established, the shelter for cows will be able to accommodate as many as 10,000 cows, making its function a large one for animal protection and sheltering.
Located on a 25-acre piece of land, this is an ultramodern shelter, and its construction is anticipated to cost ₹15 crore. The facility will be modern and equipped with technology, such as CCTV cameras for monitoring the cows throughout the day and night. For proper animal feeding, a highly improved belt conveyor system will be employed to get green fodder, hay, and feed for the cattle to enhance their health. The proposed shelter is part of the Smart City implementation and the district panchayat contributes towards its construction, while the Bhopal Municipal Corporation will take up the responsibility for its functioning.
There will also be an emphasis on issues like sustainable approaches to waste management in the cow shelter. A separate unit will be developed to convert cow dung and urine into organic manure and other valuable products. Since the extreme medical conditions of the animals are likely to come up at the shelter, the structure will consist of a modern treatment ward designed as a small hospital. This facility will house sick and injured animals to improve the quick and appropriate treatment to be given to them.
Further, the shelter will also have an online record system for admitting the animal, feeding and administering medical check-ups for the animals. For cleanliness, sophisticated equipment will be used throughout the compound to prevent the accumulation of germs and bacteria. This intervention testifies to the heart of the government on animal rights and the integration of technological improvement into the conservative setup. Upon completion and launch, it is expected to become a standard model of cow shelters across the nation with the synergy of technology and humanity.
