Lionel Messi set for India return, sports minister announces Argentina’s football match in 2025
Legendary footballer Lionel Messi and the Argentina football team will come to the state for an international game next year, Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman announced on Wednesday.
The match will be played under the full supervision of the state government, the minister said at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram. “All the financial assistance for organizing this high-profile football event will be provided by the merchants of the state,” the minister said.
When Argentina met Venezuela in an international friendly match in 2011, Messi made his last match in India. The match had ended in a tie with no goals.
