There was a fatal hit-and-run accident on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram elevated bypass on Tuesday night and the victim was identified as Pradeep Kumar, a video journalist.
Kumar, who was employed with a Telugu news channel and occasionally worked as a Rapido bike taxi operator, was on his motorcycle when a speeding BMW car knocked him down. The impact of the casualties threw him about 100 meters from the site of the crash. They discovered him dead and dumped under the highway by the local law enforcement.
The driver of the BMW drove off after the incident, leaving the vehicle a few meters away from the wreckage. People seeing the car in bad condition immediately informed the police, who in turn reached the incident place to start investigating. Closely to the scene, the emissaries of investigation also discovered the remains of Kumar’s motorcycle.
Interestingly, from the police version, the magnitude of the impact seems to have caused most of the injuries, which led to the death of Kumar in the crash.
