Kanker: According to the plan of the central government to eliminate the Naxalite movement by March 2026, the security forces are actively operating in areas influenced by Naxals, which in turn puts pressure on them.
In turn, Naxals in the Kanker district have moved to posting banners and circulating fliers across roads advising BSF and ITBP personnel against engaging in operations against Naxals in the Bastar region.
The banners and the pamphlets are published on a large scale at many places, particularly at the Antagarh-Kuhche Road and Madrasi Para, which is in the precinct of the Antagarh police station, urging security forces not to get engaged in violence in Bastar. Further, the Naxals have utilised these banners to convey their message against RSS personnel operating in villages, towns and localities to evict them. They have also denounced the setting of an army training camp in Abujhmad and urged a boycott of the panchayat poll.
Similar teary notes were seen hung in the Pakhanjur police station area by the Asebada-Bhingidar road. Here, the Naxals attacked micro finance companies, charging that they were organizations exploiting farmers, labourers and women. As we shall see below, these companies were accused of engaging in arbitrary practices, with the pamphlets urging residents to reject their upcoming ventures and chase their agents out of the rural areas. This is the first time that Naxal groups have directly targeted microfinance firms.
These recent activities show that Naxals are cornered following a sustained eviction by security forces. They have also shown the evolution of new Naxal tactics where they also discuss matters like the exploitation of the poor by money lenders or local groups to mobilise the locals. The security forces continue to prevent and control the said activities as they continue to protect the said areas.
