The Sabarmati Report box office collection day 2: The sole Bollywood film this week was the thriller directed by Dheeraj Sarna and starring Vikrant Massey. Reports indicate that the movie had some rise on Saturday, but it was nothing compared to Vikrant’s breakthrough hit 12th Fail last year.

The Sabarmati Report box office collection

The Sabarmati Report made₹2 crore on Saturday, a rise from the film’s₹1.25 crore opening on Friday. That was the biggest opening for vikrant as a lead actor. Last year, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s sleeper hit, 12th Fail, made ₹1.1 crore at the box office.

However, it saw exponential growth on day two, earning ₹2.51 crore, surpassing The Sabarmati Report’s second-day box office revenues. The Sabarmati Report may have started stronger than 12th Fail; if Saturday earnings are anything to go by, it may not grow from strength to strength as much as 12th Fail did last year. Ultimately, during its run, 12th Fail brought in ₹56.38 crore at the domestic box office.

About the Sabarmati Report

The Sabarmati Report is based on the actual events of the burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra and was directed by Dheeraj Sarna. It was produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures and Shobha Kapoor, along with Amul V. Mohan and Anshul Mohan.

The film’s trailer focuses on the ideological conflict between the Western-influenced and superior English reporters and the Hindi-speaking and rooted journalists, with background events shaping the politics and reporting of the tragic events. Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra are also featured in the movie. The media report read, “Decent performances from Vikrant Massey and others help keep this intense film on track despite deviations in the middle.”
