Sultanpur: BJP leader Awadhesh Pandey is still involved in a lot of legal issues. The fast track court, consisting of Judge Jalal Mohammed Akbar, rejected his bail petition, saying that the reasons were insufficient. It has arisen from a five-year-old land dispute and puts the leader on the spot as more severe incidents of violence and other criminal activities are reported.
The fight was recently held on July 2, 2019, in Pandeypur Surauli village of Gosaiganj police station. Complainant Dev Narayan Pandey accused Awadhesh Pandey, his relatives Ashutosh Mishra, Uttam Mishra, and Shiv Shankar Mishra tried to cultivate the disputed field with the help of a tractor. The police had advised both parties to sort out the issues through the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM); however, Pandey, according to the complaint, disobeyed the directions, which only fuelled tensions.
The complainant has accused Pandey and his supporters of using force, including shootings, as the family was against the act. Mukesh Awadhesh Pandey targeted Dev Narayan’s son, Shrikant Pandey, intending to kill him, though he was accompanied by his brother Rajesh and some others, and all of them were seriously injured while being shot at. In the scuffle that ensued during the argument, Pandey’s side, one Ashutosh Mishra, died on the spot.
After Ashutosh’s demise, the police party arrested several persons on Dev Narayan’s side, including Jagannath Yadav. However, the complainant alleged that the police acted biased by reducing the physical assault suffered by his sons and others. Hopping for justice, Dev Narayan went to court when no action was taken.
That, too, Awadhesh Pandey, who has criminal cases on his name to boot, made matters worse, and the court denied the bail of Awadhesh Pandey as well. This new development further intensifies the accusations and piles up the problems of the BJP leader.
