SSB inspector Bijendra Singh Kothari was going somewhere on this route on a bike with his acquaintance Manay Kundu. Meanwhile, while lifting an iron girder from a crane on the Nakaha Overbridge, the iron chain broke. The SSB inspector riding the bike was crushed to death, while the pillion rider was seriously injured.

In this accident, SSB Inspector Vijendra Singh Kothari (age about 45 years), who was posted at SSB Sector Headquarters Fertilizer Chiluatal Gorakhpur, died on the spot after being crushed under the girder.

The accident happened when a heavy iron girder was being lifted with the help of a crane. Then the chain of the crane broke and the heavy girder fell down. Manya Kundu, who was sitting on the bike with him, also got seriously injured in the accident. He has been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. As soon as the information about the accident was received, local police, RPF and GRPF officials reached the spot and started rescue work. The police has sent the body of the SSB inspector to BRD Medical College for postmortem.

Initial investigation has revealed that during the construction of the overbridge, there was no arrangement for barricading on the road, which is believed to be the main reason for the accident. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the officials have started an investigation. This incident points towards a serious lack of safety standards during construction work.
