On Tuesday, during the Works Purchase Committee meeting, the main infrastructure projects relating to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), which needed an investment of ₹249.77 crore, were approved by the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

The projects that will help transform the city of Gurugram will entail a major upgrade to road development, public transport augmentation, and even the introduction of the smart water system. From these endeavours, the authorities expect that it will increase its infrastructural capacity to meet the increasing demands of the fast-growing purchasing city and enhance the quality of life of its populace.

To avoid concession, government officials agreed to estimate that about ₹7.96 crore could be saved out of these projects, which are now cleared for immediate release for qualifying contractors. Actually, once the contracting process is initiated the contractors will come with a bank guarantee, the work is planned to commence in December while the work orders will be issued by GMDA.

The main expenditure proposal consists of an important project involving the rehabilitation and reinforcement of some of the city’s strategic highways. The program will cost ₹166 crore and convert the Master Sector Dividing Road – 64 Kms and service Road – 17.2 Kms in important sectors.

This includes the road between sectors 84/88 and 85/89, sectors 23/23A, Mahavir Chowk, and Civil Lines. These roadworks are expected to be effective in desynchronizing traffic flow congestion and hazards that have continued to affect commuters in Gatineau throughout the city.

Besides, three significant public transport schemes have been approved with an estimate of ₹50.77 crore only. This includes the construction of an e-Bus Depot in Sector 48 and the provision of 154 new bus queue shelters in select routes, primarily the Southern and Northern Peripheral Roads and Dwarka Expressway.
