An encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two terrorists. The conflict started in the Shangus-Larnoo region of the south Kashmir district, close to Halkan Gali.
The two terrorists who were killed were a local and a foreigner. According to unnamed officials cited in the media, their group affiliation was not yet determined. According to the officials, the operation is in progress and more information is anticipated.
Meanwhile, another clash is taking place in Srinagar’s Khanyar neighborhood. Officials say no casualties have been reported on either side thus far. “A cordon and search operation in the Khanyar area of district Srinagar has resulted in an exchange of fire. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police posted on X.
According to earlier reports, a clash occurred on Friday between security forces and terrorists in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army said in a post on X on Saturday that terrorists fired at security guards before fleeing into the jungle. “On 01 November 2024 late evening, suspicious movement was spotted in gen area of Panar of Bandipora by alert troops. On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle. Search Operation underway,” Chinar Corps, Indian Army posted on X.
2 laborers from UP hurt in a terror attack in Budgam
In the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, two Uttar Pradesh laborers were shot at by terrorists the day before Saturday’s clash.
Sufiyan and Usman were hurt when they were attacked in the central Kashmir district’s Mazhama neighborhood of Magam. After being brought to a hospital, the two were said to be in stable condition. Since a new government was established in the Union Territory last month, this was the fifth terror attack in the Kashmir valley.
Among the leaders who denounced the attack were Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference (NC), and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. NC MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi wondered “why this sudden rise in these attacks immediately after the recent elections.”
Tariq Hameed Karra, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, called the attack “very unfortunate” and fervently denounced it. He also prayed for the injured to recover quickly. Altaf Bukhari, the president of the Apni Party, called the attack the height of cowardice.
On October 24, a terrorist attack on an Army vehicle six kilometers from the well-known tourist destination of Gulmarg resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and two Army porters, as well as the injuries of another soldier and a porter.
An Uttar Pradesh laborer named Shubam Kumar was shot at and wounded by terrorists earlier that day in the Tral neighborhood of Pulwama district. On October 20, terrorists shot and killed a local doctor and six foreign workers at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal’s Gagangir neighborhood. On October 18, terrorists in the Shopian district shot and killed a Bihar laborer.
