After the scathing comments that Prime Minister Narendra Modi leveled against Congress rule in some states for their inability to fulfill many of the poll’s nice-sounding promises, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has gone for a retort and also pointed out certain misperceptions and myths of Prime Minister Modi’s statements.
Reddy went to X, where he tagged the Prime Minister to point out that the Congress government in Telangana sees every word as the strongest pledge.
In his statement, Reddy highlighted the degree of change that has happened in the states since the assumption of Congress administration on December 7, 2023. He spoke of hope and delight returning to the state after a long time of BRS rule, which he said was a ‘ten-year rule of arbitrary’.
In this area, he cited the summary compliance of his government’s hardline pledges. Within two days of assuming office, the Telangana administration launched its first two initiatives: free travel in all TSRTC buses for women and health care facilities where the hospitalization cover is up to ₹10 lakh under Rajiv Arogya Sree. According to Reddy, women in Telangana traveled more than 101 crores in the last eleven months without bus fares, and they saved ₹3433.36 crores.
However, Reddy highlighted to his audience that his government had provided the largest state-level farmer loan waiver in India’s history before the completion of his first year in power. Through the scheme, more than 22 lakh farmers have been relieved of their debts, where upto ₹2 lakh loans have been written off. This has transferred more than ₹ 18,000 crore into the farmers’ account in less than 25 days.
He further noted that the women of Telangana show appreciation to the government for several favors, such as free electricity tariffs and no domestic power tariff charges, where households do not use more than 200 units of power.
