The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat recently moved to Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and offered his tribute at the bust of the great freedom fighter Rani Lakshmibai. On arrival, he was received by the regional executive member, Yashwant Indrapurkar.
In the company of other Upper posterity RSS leaders and conclusion voluntary workers, Bhagwat paid his respects to Rani Lakshmibai – the queen who died fighting against the British.
There was a special meaning to the visit because it allowed Bhagwat to spend time watching the memorial at the site located in a now-familiar Phool Bagh. Today, people visit this site as an act of pilgrimages, so to speak, to honour the memory and bravery of Rani Lakshmibai, who is considered a heroine of the Indian freedom struggle. Bhagwat’s gesture was also quite symbolic – to honour the armour worn by leaders in the battle of liberation against colonial injustice.
After the tribute, Bhagwat continued his talks with different RSS leaders. This helped him contact the leadership and volunteers from the RSS region, thus improving relations within the organisation. The meeting was apparent in the valour Rani Lakshmi bai symbolized and the cause the RSS leaders embraced of courage and self-sacrifice for the motherland.
Security was tightened around the perimeter of the site where, according to the RSS’s audio-visual presentation, the memorial had been transformed into a police-patrolled area to protect the Chief and the company he was buying.
The environment was tense, and everything was done with more honour for the site of the ceremony. Bhagwat’s visit largely re-emphasized the present-day comprehensive intent of the RSS to pay tribute to the Indian heroes who motivated generations to fight for independence.
