Brahm Singh Tanwar has recently switched over to AAP from BJP; Tanwar had been a three-time member of the BJP in the Delhi assembly.
Representing Chhatarpur since his win in 2013, Tanwar previously represented Mehrauli between 1993 and 2003. He has been actively involved in the BJP for several years now, especially in the southern part of Delhi.
In the previous assembly elections held in 2015 and 2020, Tanwar was defeated by AAP’s Kartar Singh Tanwar, who joined the BJP this year. On Thursday, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal welcomed Brahm Singh Tanwar into the party, saying that he was an important person in Delhi politics and had dedicated his life to serving the public. He said that Tanwar has been serving the people of Delhi for almost 50 years in different capacities in private and government sectors.
Looking at the medium, Kejriwal highlighted Tanwar’s work for the constituencies he has represented, talking about his substantial investments in the city’s progress. He said that AAP gets a ‘constant stream of qualified candidates applying with them,’ adding that AAP’s showing in Delhi and Punjab to bolster its image and expand.
Accepting his offer, Brahm Singh Tanwar thanked the AAP for the great opportunity and admitted that the future visions of AAP had influenced him. He reiterated his pledge to cut all relations with the BJP and embrace the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. ‘It is my honour to be a part of AAP, which enables one to work under the leadership who is heart and soul committed to public cause,’ Tanwar said, adding that he will work with Kejriwal to develop his constituency and the NCR region. Both leaders expect the move to help mobilise support and accelerate AAP’s agenda of development in Delhi.
