Gwalior: A youth was severely assaulted with a paper cutter by some miscreants who wanted him to pay for the liquor.
About six persons attacked the victim, and after nicking him severely, they escaped from the scene, leaving the victim in a pool of blood. The man who was injured in the incident has been taken to the hospital while the police have opened a case against the culprits. Three suspects have been arrested, and three others have not been arrested and are now on the run.
The occurrence was reported in Janakganj, a locality in Gwalior. A local resident, as well as a driver, Pankaj Parihar, said he was on his bike when the group accosted him after he was coming home from buying Diwali items. Walking only a short distance from where he lived, the young men approached him and then spoke with him for only a short time before attacking him. Some of the neighbors tried to grab the attackers but were, in turn, threatened to stay away.
Pankaj was then stabbed by one of the miscreants, who used a paper cutter to prick him on the chest and near the neck. When Pankaj collapsed, the attack on him was severe, and with bleeding on the face, the attackers ran away. Hence, his family and local police quickly rushed him to the hospital for medical attention.
During his police deposition, Pankaj disclosed that the attack was over rivalry with one of the suspects, Gaurav Jatav, who blackmailed him for money to drink. When Pankaj declined to accept that from him, Gaurav and his group, who thought they were the master planners of the entire mission, decided to use force to counterforce. Police have also launched a manhunt for the other offenders with the aim of arresting them in the course of law.
This has left the community in shock, especially when it comes to safety, and this appears to be on the rise. The authorities are under pressure to respond to such attacks and protect residents, especially in such neighborhoods as Janakganj.
