More than 25 Indian and international flights working with Indian carriers were threatened with bomb scares on Friday, according to a news agency report.

IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet, and Air India are among the least ten airline companies that have reported multiple bird-hits incidents. Seven flights each from IndiGo and Vistara, seven SpiceJet and the same number of Air India’s flights were threatened.

An IndiGo spokesperson listed some of the affected flights as 6E 87 Kozhikode to Dammam, 6E 2099 Udaipur to Delhi, 6E 11 Delhi to Istanbul, 6E 58 Jeddah to Mumbai, 6E 17 Mumbai to Istanbul, 6E 108 Hyderabad to Chandigarh, and 6E 133 Pune to Jodhp The spokesperson said that when they received a bomb threat for the flight 6E 2099, which was scheduled to fly from Udaipur to Delhi, the plane was moved to an isolation bay as the special directions issued by the security agencies require. All passengers were evacuated to the surface, and operations proceeded in a normal and professional manner.

More than 275 flights moving through Indian carriers have similar bomb threats in just 12 days, and most of these calls have been made on social media. To this end, to counter this trend, the Indian government has asked Meta and X social media companies to provide data on mass hoax bomb threats to airlines. These platforms have been called upon to cooperate early enough with the Ministry of Information Technology, especially in identifying the people behind such threatening messages.

This wave of hoax threats has forced much pressure on airlines because many flights have been accredited to diversion or delay and or have been searched extensively following bomb threats placed on social media.
