Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the incident of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and assured the world that only the establishment of peace can be a solution as wars cannot depend upon to decide international crises.
During a bilateral summit with Germany’s Olaf Scholz in New Delhi, Modi claimed that they both disapprove of the current military actions in Ukraine and West Asia and said that India is willing to help establish stability. The cases in Ukraine and West Asia are disturbing both of you. India has always said that issues cannot be solved militarily, and we are willing to contribute in every way to the cause of peace, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
When mentioning Indo-German relations, PM Modi pointed out that cooperation in the defense and security sector is a building measure. He also underlined the importance of the recent treaty signed on cooperation in the sphere of sharing of secrets, which is another stage of the progressing partnership between the countries. Also, there is an MLA between this country and Germany that is designed to enhance cooperation in countering terrorism and separatism.
Chancellor Scholz, who arrived in India with a large delegation, believed that increasing cooperation in trade and other fields with New Delhi would help Germany reduce its economic entanglement with China. In his speech at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in New Delhi, Scholz emphasized that conflicts should be solved diplomatically and militarily but through an international legal framework.
He said that in a multipolar world, “there are no police for our global village or single dog that watches our moves over the rules and regulations we observe on the international stage.” During the interview, Scholz raised the alarm by pointing out that if Russia continues with its “illegal, brutal war against Ukraine”, the implication is that the war may spread beyond Europe and destabilize the rest of the world and undermine prosperity.
Earlier this year, at the BRICS Summit held in Sochi, PM Modi, in his bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, assured Russia that India was in favour of peace. “Culturally, we would like to stick to the principle of non-violent resolution of conflicts. We fully endorse the formation of stability and peace, with the primary focus on humanity,” Modi said.
