Srinagar: Seven terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two weeks have disrupted peace in the Union Territory following the much-awaited assembly election results, resulting in the loss of more than a dozen lives. The most recent attack, which took place in Gulmarg on the evening of 24 October, in which four people lost their lives.
In the Baramulla district of north Kashmir, a terror attack on Thursday night targeted an army vehicle only a few kilometers from the popular tourist destination. In the attack, two civilian porters and two Army officers were killed, and numerous others got injured and taken to the hospital.
Security personnel immediately sealed off all routes of travel in the area of the attack site and began a massive search operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gulmarg. A few hours prior to the attack on the army vehicle in Gulmarg, an Uttar Pradesh laborer was shot and seriously injured by terrorists in the Tral area of the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Four days prior, in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir, seven people were killed, including a local doctor and six non-local laborers. Terrorists opened fire on the victims at the Z-Morh tunnel construction site on October 20, resulting in a vicious terror attack.
A Village Development Committee (VDC) in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, was attacked by terrorists earlier this year while security forces were engaged in a firefight. The encounter claimed the life of one terrorist.
