On Thursday night, miscreants fired at the car of an iron trader on the Rajgarh-Alwar road near Moonpur in the Alwar district.

This caused the trader’s driver to be critically injured, having been captured in the neck, just below the head, with a gunshot. Soon, people of the village intervened to help the driver of the truck to be shifted to the government hospital in Rajgarh, from where he was referred to the district hospital in Alwar.

According to Rajgarh Station Officer Ramjilal Meena, iron trader Harishankar Gupta of Moonpur, who owns a factory, they were on their way back to Rajgarh after work. As he was driving on the road, a car with the attackers behind him overtook his car and blocked him. The thugs confronted Gupta and ordered him to roll down his car window; when he refused, the thugs shot at him, critically injuring the driver. It was during the confusion that the attackers escaped from the scene without being arrested.

In the aftermath, the policemen involved did not waste any time in conducting their investigation. Further, SP (Rural) Dr. Priyanka visited the crime scene and directed the District Special Team (DST) to look for the particular anti-social elements. Police squads are currently going through CCTV security footage of the vicinity with the aim of solving the problem of identifying the culprits and conducting a series of operations.

This incident has given some fear factors to the local traders and travelers on the Rajgarh-Alwar route, which was targeted before also. They have pledged to get to the bottom of the issue in a bid to ensure quick-tracking of justice and have increased security throughout the district, especially in areas that have trading centers and highways. The police work at bringing the culprits to book and making people in such areas feel safe so that incidents like the one above do not happen again.
