Late Monday night, several more CRPF schools across India, including those in Delhi and Hyderabad, were threatened with hoax bomb threats. Police sources reveal that while the school of the CRPF in Delhi was threatened twice, it was threatened once by the Hyderabad school. The threats were conveyed via an e-mail dispatched to the heads of these institutions, leading to serious alarm amongst the staff and parents.
The timing is especially provocative, as these threats arrived after the severe event that happened one day prior. On a Sunday morning there was a big blast at the CRPF school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar area in New Delhi. There was no human loss in that explosion, even though the explosion damaged the signboard, hoardings of shops and the window glass of the cars which were parked around the place.
Some of the affected schools have closed following the security threats with security measures being beefed up to counter the extremes. Officials are working to find out the source of the hoax threats while they log emails and try to locate the sender to avoid endangering the lives of students and staff. The situation has made parents apprehensive; many of them are uncertain about the security measures in schools and colleges affiliated with CRPF.
School leaders are trying to calm down parents, stating that all safety measures are being strictly adhered to, and police forces help the institutions observe the situation. CRPF is a major force in the country, and the welfare of its children in school is a valued security concern. Such investigations are still ongoing, and all students and parents are advised to be wary of such incidents and report any incidents immediately. They are a wake-up call for students and schools to be very cautious when it comes to security in learning institutions- more so in areas of insecurity.
