New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has ordered the enforcement of GRAP-II in Delhi NCR to address the worsening air quality after the national capital’s daily average AQI reached 310 on Monday.

“Today, the ‘Red light On, Gaadi Off’ campaign was started from ITO red light. During this, drivers were appealed to contribute in reducing pollution by turning off the vehicle when the ‘red light’ is on”, wrote Environment Minister of Delhi, Gopal Rai.

To prevent further decline, the statutory body decided that the concerned agencies across NCR will implement all measures under Stage II of GRAP, which is activated when air quality reaches the “Very Poor” category. These will be in addition to Stage I actions already in place, starting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

“In an effort to prevent further deterioration of the air quality, the Sub-Committee has decided that ALL actions as envisaged under Stage II of the GRAP-Very Poor Air Quality (DELHI AQI ranging between 301-400) be implemented in right earnest by all the agencies concerned in the NCR, in addition to the Stage-I actions already in force, from 8:00 AM of 22.10.2024 in the National Capital Region (NCR),” CAQM order read.
