ED Scam: ED has given a clean chit to Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu in the Rs 371 crore skill development scam. Telugu Desam Party President and CM Naidu had to spend 53 days in jail in the then YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government in this scam. On 9 September 2023, the CID team arrested Naidu from Nandyal in the morning. An FIR was registered against Chandrababu Naidu in the year 2021. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested under section 50(1)(2) of CrPC. Naidu came out of jail on bail on 31 October 2023. Now after becoming CM again, ED has given a clean chit to Naidu.

Actually, a scheme was started in Andhra Pradesh during Chandrababu Naidu’s government to provide skill development training to the youth. Under this scheme, the youth were to be given the necessary skill development training to work in heavy industries located in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. Under the scheme, the government had given the responsibility of this scheme to a company Siemens. Under the scheme, six clusters were created and a total of Rs 3300 crore was to be spent on them. In which Rs 560 crore was to be spent on each cluster.

The then Chandrababu Naidu government told the cabinet that under the scheme, the state government will spend 10 percent of the total expenditure i.e. Rs 370 crore. The remaining 90 percent will be borne by Siemens, a company providing skill development training. It is alleged that Chandrababu Naidu’s government transferred Rs 371 crore to be spent under the scheme to shell companies. The former CM is also accused of creating shell companies and destroying documents related to transferring money to them.

ED is investigating the case from the angle of money laundering. In this case, ED had filed a case against former MD of Siemens Company Somyadri Shekhar Bose, MD of Designtech Company Vikas Vinayak Khanvelkar, CEO of PVSP IT Skills Project Pvt Ltd and Skiller Enterprises Pvt Ltd Mukul Chandra Agarwal, CA Suresh Goyal.
