Ajay Jadeja is now officially the next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, now in popular parlance Jamnagar, a princely state in Gujarat. This major statement was made by H.H. Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja, through an official statement to announce that Ajay accepted the role of the successor to the palace kingdom. It is important to note that Shatrusalyasinhji is a cousin of the father of Ajay, which also makes the relation of the royal family apparent.

Ajay Jadeja was born with the royal lineage of the Nawanagar royal family. The history of the game can be traced in his lineage. His version of K. Shruti, K. Ranjitsinhji, and K.S. Duleepsinhji are hailing from Indian cricket, and it is credit to them that one of the highly acclaimed trophies named as Ranji Trophy, another one is the Duleep Trophy. Ajay, most famous for his fielding abilities, had a playing career from 1992/2000, during which he represented India in the 15 tests/196 one-day internationals.

Jadeja’s new title was given when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Warsaw, Poland in August and offered hisdu’s memorial at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar. Last month, PM Modi stated his satisfaction with continuing the people’s relations between India and Poland, and pointed to the importance of the memorial to Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji. He is well known for his actions during World War II and was affectionately known as the ‘Good Maharaja’. In the same speech, PM Modi announced intentions to embark on the Jam Saheb Nawanagar Youth Action Program, which aims to exchange people of this age in both India and Poland in order to further cultural relations.

Following their lineal responsibility, Ajay Jadeja enters this royal profession with the added burden of having to go on with the tradition that his ancestors have set, in serving the society in more than one way including sportsmanship and humanitarianism.
